Institutions Provide Transfer Scholarships for Community-College Students
While many four-year universities are forming ties with community colleges,
two Florida
institutions appear to have created a novel partnership.
Nova Southeastern University,
which is private, has announced
a $500,000 gift to the Broward Community College Foundation that will be
used to provide transfer scholarships for the two-year college’s students. To
qualify for scholarships of up to $10,000, students must complete their
associate degree at Broward with a GPA of at least 3.5
and then be accepted to a bachelor’s program at Nova.
The gift will be matched, dollar for dollar, by a state scholarship program.
Are other private four-year institutions creating similar transfer
scholarships?
