    An average institutional award of nearly $21,000 and a total average aid package of $37,000. Private school quality, public school affordability. TCC graduates from Hampton Roads may qualify for the College Success Scholarship — $10,000 per year, renewable for a second year. The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.   • Accepts Transfers:
    Whether you're coming from a community college, a four-year institution, or returning to finish what you started, Batten makes transferring straightforward. Generous credit recognition means your hard work follows you here.
  • Credit For Life Experience:
    Batten awards undergraduate academic credit for knowledge acquired through professional and lived experience. Up to 12 credits may be awarded for this category.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Generally, transfer applicants should present a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students who have earned a 3.0 GPA at the completion of their first year at a two-year institution are eligible to concurrently enroll in two 300-level Batten courses during their sophomore year.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Request official transcripts from every college or university you've attended. Applicants with fewer than 12 completed semester hours of college work should also submit an official high school transcript (or GED results).
  • SAT Scores:
    Applicants with fewer than 12 completed semester hours of college work should also submit SAT or ACT scores.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    While not required, VCCS graduates with an associate degree enter Batten with junior status and all lower-level general education complete — including foreign language.
  • Other Requirements:
    Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Approved credit is accepted for transfer only when the student has earned a grade of C (2.0) or above.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students may receive a maximum of 32 semester hours of credit for all prior learning experiences combined. All transferable credits from the transfer-oriented associate degree program, not to exceed 64 credits, will be accepted.
